October 7th: A Global Call to Prayer's Hidden Power
Don Dolindo's Wisdom Illuminates the Pope's Urgent Plea for Peace
In a world that often mocks prayer, Don Dolindo Ruotolo's wisdom reminds us of prayer’s hidden power. Discover why the Pope's call for a day of prayer and fasting might be more potent than you think. Don't miss what Don Dolindo said below – it could change your perspective on prayer!
“The world laughs when the Pope, in the greatest dangers of the Church, calls the faithful to gather for a day of reparation and prayers; to the world, this gesture seems idle and useless, and the world continues in its snares and traps. But the Lord listens to the prayer of the Church and intervenes in the greatest dangers, using certain sudden situations to induce the world to leave her free.” [Don Dolindo’s commentary on Psalm 53(54)]
“Oh, if it were known what a marvelous remedy against temptations is attending the Sacrifice of the Mass, to receive communion, staying before Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, souls would not lament so many shipwrecks and so many defeats! Oh, if only souls united themselves more with the liturgical prayer of the Church, how strong they would feel in her unshakeable faith and indefectibility! How could a soul who unites herself to the indefectible life of the Church, and clings to this unshakeable rock amidst the storms, possibly lack the grace of final perseverance?” [Don Dolindo’s commentary on Psalm 53(54)]
“The Church battle is unique, as she has no weapons, but rather fights with humility and sorrow.” [Don Dolindo’s commentary on Psalm 143(144)]
The Holy Father has designated October 7, 2024, as a day of prayer and fasting for peace. This date coincides with the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary. Let us answer the Pope's call and unite with Our Lady, Queen of Peace, in beseeching her Son, the King of Peace, to bestow upon us His divine peace. As Christ himself promised, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid." (John 14:27). Through our prayers and fasting, may we open our hearts to receive this transcendent peace that surpasses all understanding. As Don Dolindo Ruotolo reminds us, while the world may scoff at such spiritual endeavors, "the Lord listens to the prayer of the Church and intervenes in the greatest dangers, using certain sudden situations to induce the world to leave her free.
O Blessed Virgin Mary, Our Lady of the Rosary, in these times of turmoil and uncertainty, we come before you with humble hearts. Queen of Peace, intercede for us before your Son, that through the power of your holy rosary, we may become instruments of peace in this world. (Matthew 5:9) Teach us to pray with the faith that moves mountains, (Matthew 17:20) and the love that conquers all fear. (1 John 4:18) May our prayers, united with yours, (Matthew 18:19) bring about the miracles our world so desperately needs. (Matthew 19:26) We trust in your maternal protection and guidance, (John 19:26-27) as we strive to be beacons of hope in a troubled world. (Matthew 5:14) Our Lady of the Rosary, pray for us. Amen.
