An act of trust and love by the soul that desires only God
From Don Dolindo's commentary on Psalm 4
I am a child of Your Church, O my Jesus. I pray to You with her own voice, hear me for her love, and in tribulation, may this heart of mine, oppressed by misery, be expanded. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer; break my hardness, free me from the vanity and lies of the world, so that I may immerse myself in Your wondrous love and cry out to You, who are my life.
I am a sinner, make me indignant against my sins, and in the silence of my soul, let me detest them and repent of them; make me give all of myself to You—my intellect, my will, my senses, my aspirations, my life—because this full offering of myself to Your love is a sacrifice of justice, having received everything from You. I hope in You, my Jesus, and long for my true good, for Eternal Life. The light of God is imprinted on my face because I am His image. Therefore, I will not desecrate this light, but I will exult in my God, rest in Him, and aspire to Him alone. When my body declines and falls into the darkness of death, I will hope in You, who are the resurrection and life, and I will close my eyes, falling asleep in You, to reopen them in the eternal light and glory of the resurrection.
